Granada is one of the beautiful cities but of Spain. Their history, culture, climate and geography converge to make it only, with exceptional conditions for the visitor.

The city of Granada is in one of the eight provinces Andalusian, to the south of Spain. This Andalusian city limits with the Fertile valley of Granada and it is crossed by the rivers Genil and Darro, both of them cross it by the city center. Thus, they separate the hill of the Alhambra, that dominates all the large city, of the one of the Albaycín. Granada city has a surface of 88.2 kilometers square.

Covering with its shade the City of Granada, is Sierra Nevada , the ski resort greatest of the south of Europe. The station is located in the locality of Monachil, almost 32 km of Granada and only about 45 minutes in car. In 1996, she was host of the World-wide Championship of Alpine Ski.

The amount of snow that there is in the tracks depends on how much it has rained in center of Granada, but as a rule, the ski resort from the beginning lasts of December until end of April/May principles . Thanks to the artificial snow tubes, the station can even open when there is not natural snow.

The highest summit of the Sierra Nevada is Mulhacén to about 3,481 meters, and the second highest one is Veleta to about 3,398 meters.

La cantidad de nieve que hay en las pistas depende de cuánto ha llovido en el centro de Granada, pero por regla general, la estación de esquí dura desde el principio de diciembre hasta finales de abril/principios de mayo. Gracias a los cañones de nieve artificial, la estación puede abrir incluso cuando no haya nieve natural.

La cumbre más alta de la Sierra Nevada es Mulhacén a unos 3.481 metros, y la segunda más alta es Veleta a unos 3.398 metros.

The famous poet Lord Byron once referred to Seville as being famous for its oranges and women and when one sees the festival out here, the meaning of his words become clear.Spain is noted for the various colorful and extensive festivals and Seville's April Fair (La Feria de Abril) is one of them which presents a true picture of a vibrant and colorful Spain. Seville’s April Fair was started in 1846, surprisingly, by two none-sevillians, a Basque and a Catalan. The main purpose of these two industrious founders was no other than to improve business (trade and agriculture).
However, after some time the local people changed the character of the fair into something more festive and colorful. It has now converted to one of the mayor folkloric celebrations in Spain and one of the main tourist attractions of Seville.
Some important features of this extravagantly rich festival are as follows:-
The fair officially begins on Monday at midnight, normally 2 weeks after Semana Santa (Holy Week), and ends with a fireworks display the following Sunday, again, at midnight
The grand opening of "La Feria de Abril" is done with "El Alumbrado" (the lighting)which means the official lighting of the lanterns where half a million little lights are turned on at once, especially at the main gate.
People dress in traditional costumes — not only on the fairground but in the city as well. It's wonderful and bizarre to see woman in costimes of the 18th century.
At noon every day there is a procession called the 'Paseo de Caballos' in which local girls in their full flamenco outfit are pulled through the city in beautiful carriages by splendid horses.
The city is overbooked well in advance for this event as thousand of locals and tourists alike party until dawn.
In the evening some of the year's top bullfights take place at the Plaza de Toros de Maestranza with tickets selling out well in advance.

Malaga is a beautiful Spanish port city capital of the province holding the same name. As far as demography is concerned and .besides being the capital, Malaga is the most populated urban area of the group of towns located along the 180-km stretch of Mediterranean coastline known as “Costa del Sol”. Malaga has bidded to become European capital of culture in 2016. The city of Malaga is surrounded by a mountain range called “Montes de Malaga”. Two rivers, Guadalmedina and Guadalhorce, flow across the city coming out into the Mediterranean Sea.

How to get to Malaga?

There are commercial flights from any part of the World to Madrid-Barajas airport. Once in Madrid you have to go to Madrid-Atocha railway station where you can take a fast train to Malaga and enjoy a comfortable trip to the city.

Another possibility for tourists is to travel by plane directly to Malaga airport. Malaga airport is 8 kms away from the city centre. Between the airport facilities we must highlight its two terminals. Terminal A used for domestic flights and flights within the European Community and Terminal B used for flights coming from the rest of the world. Marqués de Larios street is a famous meeting point and shopping place. It’s also a well known place to taste the wonderful tapas (finger food). Antigua Casa de Guardia tavern, founded in 1840, is the temple of dry wine, white wine and muscatel (sweet wine). We suggest to accompany your wine with a portion of winkles (6€) or lobster tail (2.10 €). Lo Güeno tavern (Marin Garcia Street) brags about having the widest range of tapas in the city. Breadcrumbs (2.40 €), beans with rabbit (2€) and broad beans (3€) are amongst its specialties. They offer an assortment of tapas for 10.80€. Gorki (Strachan St 6) is an always crowded place famous for its delicatessen. Orellana (Moreno Monroy St 5) is a classic bar dating back from 1937. Ask for its delicious bartolitos (fish coated with egg and breadcrumbs), ligeritas (assorted small sandwiches) and cuttlefish brochettes. At Rincon tavern (pasaje de Chinitas) you will be able to taste excellent brochettes of shrimps (2.50 €) and a plate of pescaito frito (fried small fish) for only 3€.

Malaga’s gastronomy is amongst the most typical ones in the Mediterranean region. Above all we have to highlight its delicious fish, a typical dish of Malaga’s coastline. Sardines, anchovies and soles are typical dishes from this area of Andalusia with gazpacho (soup of tomatoes and peppers) also holding a relevant position.

Beaches

We can distinguish three different types of beaches in the city of Malaga, each one of them with different features. The first group includes those beaches located in the easternmost part of the city up to Rincon de la Victoria where Axarquía beach starts.

Another group is composed of the beaches that stretch from the port of Malaga to the recreational port of El Candado.

The third group goes from the bed of the Guadalmedina River to the limit with the town of Torremolinos. These are wide, long sandy beaches with a substratum of siliceous stone. In average they have a slope of 14%, a width of about 30-45 metres and a length of 15,000 metres. Included in this group are the beaches of San Andres, Misericordia, Guadalhorce, Guadalmar y Campo de Golf. There are works currently going on in the extension of the Antonio Machado promenade to Guadalimar in order to link it with the western part of the “Costa del Sol”.

¿Donde tapear en Malaga?

La calle Marqués de Larios, tradicional lugar de encuentro y compras, lo es también para tapear. La taberna Antigua Casa de Guardia (Alameda Principal, 18), fundada en 1840, es un templo del vino seco, la lágrima (vino blanco) o el moscatel. Acompáñalos con su ración de búsanos (bígaros) por 6 € o cola de langosta (2,10 €). El mesón Lo Güeno (Marín García, 11) presume de ofrecer la más extensa carta de tapas de la ciudad: desde migas (2,40 €) a judías con conejo (2 €) o habas (3 €). Tienen un combinado de diez tapas por 10,80 €. Uno que siempre está lleno es Gorki (Strachan, 6); prueba sus tablas de delicatessen. Y un clásico, de 1937, es el bar Orellana (Moreno Monroy, 5). Pide sus deliciosos bartolitos (rosada aliñada y empanada), ligeritas (montaditos) y los pinchitos morunos de sepia. En la Taberna Rincón (pasaje de Chinitas) degusta los pinchitos de langostinos (2,50 €) o el platito de pescaíto frito (3 €).

La gastronomía malagueña es típica del mediterráneo, si bien tenemos q ue destacar por encima de todo el pescado, típico de todo el litoral malagueño, los espetos de sardina, los boquerones y los lenguados son típicos de esta zona de Andalucía en la que también des taca el gazpacho.

Playas
En la ciudad de Málaga podemos distinguir tres tipos de playas con tipologías y características distintas:
El primer grupo incluye a las del extremo oriental del municipio, hasta el Rincón de la Victoria, en el, inicio de la Axarquía.

Otro grupo es el compuesto por las playas que se extienden desde el Puerto de Málaga al Puerto Deportivo de El Candado.

El tercer grupo se extiende desde el cauce del río Guadalmedina hasta el límite con el municipio de Torremolinos. Son playas anchas, arenosas, de gran longitud, con sustratos de áridos de carácter carbonático-silíceo. Como media, sus pendientes son del 14%; su anchura de 30-45 mts. Y su longitud de 15.000 mts. Las playas de este grupo son: San Andrés, Misericordia, Guadalhorce, Guadalmar y Campo de Golf. Actualmente se trabaja en el Plan de Actuación del Paseo Marítimo Antonio Machado y su prolongación hasta Guadalmar, enlazando con la Costa del Sol occidental.

CONOCER ESPAÑA: CADIZ, "LA TACITA DE PLATA"

Existe la creencia de que Cádiz es la ciudad más antigua de Europa y se dice que Cádiz fue fundada por Hércules aunque es más probable que sus fundadores fueran los fenicios hacia el año 1100 antes de Cristo. Cádiz es famosa por su carnaval. Las fiestas son sin duda más exuberantes que en ningún otro lugar de España. Las playas de Cádiz son muy tranquilas y tienden a ser largas, de arena fina y dorada y con grandes dunas. La costa está salpicada con pequeños pueblecitos de pescadores.

Playa de la Cortadura:

Esta es la playa más larga de Cádiz con sus casi 4 kilómetros de longitud y 60 metros de anchura y se extiende desde Cortadura a Torregorda. En total casi 550000 metros cuadrados de playa. La Cortadura se encuentra situada al sur de Cádiz y llega hasta la localidad de San Fernando

Es una playa virgen considerada como una de las mejor conservadas de la zona. La arena es dorada y muy fina. La playa se formó de una serie de dunas de arena y el lecho marino está cubierto de rocas. La Cortadura ha sido distinguida con siete banderas azules de la Comunidad Europea como prueba de sus magnífico estado y el cuidado de su conservación.

Playa de la Victoria:

La Victoria es la playa principal de la ciudad. Es una playa muy popular y conocida. En 1987 recibió una bandera blanca y ha mantenido un alto nivel desde entonces. Está situada en la parte oeste del istmo sobre el cual se asienta la ciudad de Cádiz. Hacia el norte de la playa hay un arrecife rocoso. La playa mide 2500 metros de longitud y 185 de anchura. Tiene un bello paseo que se extiende de un extremo a otro de la ciudad. Allí podréis ver turistas y gaditanos recorriendo el paseo en cualquier época del año

Playa de la Caleta:

Esta es probablemente la segunda playa más popular en Cádiz. Está situada en la zona de Vina y ocupa un espacio de 23000 metros cuadrados. Tiened 450 metros de largo y 50 de ancho. La playa está completamente abarrotada durante los calurosos meses de verano. También tiene un paseo que recorre la playa de un extremo a otro. En 1997 recibió su primera bandera blanca.

Playa de Santa María del Mar:

Es la playa situada más al norte de la ciudad. Tiene 400 metros de largo y recorre toda la longitud de las antiguas murallas de la ciudad.

Cádiz está casi completamente rodeada por el mar como podéis ver en las imágenes. A lo largo de su paseo marítimo hay muchas playas más pequeñas. En el caluroso verano de Cádiz, un chapuzón en el Océano Atlántico puede ser realmente refrescante. Como el espacio disponible es bastante limitado se usa de un modo muy eficiente y las calles no tienen una anchura mayor de la estrictamente necesaria. Como consecuencia de que el diseño de la ciudad proviene en su mayor parte del siglo y del milenio pasado los coches más anchos tienen dificultades para circular por sus calles.

La Catedral de Cádiz tardó 116 años en terminar de construirse por lo que la mezcla de estilos es evidente. La construcción comenzó en estilo barroco y se completó en neoclásico. En su interior podemos encontrar esculturas de la vieja catedral. Las torres y la sacristía fueron las últimas en construirse en el siglo XIX. Las bóvedas del altar mayor y los puestos del coro son dignos de verse aunque estos últimos no son los originales de la catedral. También se pueden ver algunas bellas imágenes barrocas. La iglesia está coronada con una cúpula de ladrillo dorado lo que le da un aspecto impresionante. El gran compositor español Manuel de Falla está enterrado en su cripta.

Cádiz is supposed to be the oldest city of Europe. Hercules is said to have founded the city, but it is more probable the Phoenicians did around 1100 BC. Cádiz is famous for its Carnaval. The parties here are supposed to be more exuberant than anywhere in Spain. Click on the map and zoom in and out to take a virtual trip of the city and province of Cadiz.

The Beaches in Cadiz are very peaceful and tend to be long, with fine golden sand and huge dunes. The coastline is dotted with small fishing villages.

La Cortadura Beach:

This is the longest beach in Cádiz. It's nearly 4000m long and 60m wide. It stretches all the way from Cortadura to Torregorda. In total there is nearly 550,000 square meteres of beach here. La Cortadura is located south of Cádiz; it goes all the way to the town of San Fernando

It's a virgin beach; considered to be one of the most unspoilt in the area. The sand is gold and very fine. It was formed by a series of sand dunes...the seabed is covered in rocks. La Cortadura has been awarded seven blue flags.

La Victoria Beach:

La Victoria is the main city beach. It's very popular and well known. In 1987 it recieved a white flag and has maintained very high standards ever since. It's located on the western side of the isthmus, where the city stands. To the north of the beach there is a rocky reef. The beach is 2,500 metres long and 185 metres wide. It has a beautiful promenade that stretches from one end of the city to the other. You'll see locals and tourists walking on the promenade all year round.

La Caleta Beach:

This is probably the 2nd most popular beach in Cádiz. It's located in the Vina area and occupies a space of 23,000 square metres. It's 450 metres long and 50 metres wide. It gets very busy during the hot summer months. There is a promenade that stretches from one end of the beach to the other. In 1997 it recieved its first white flag.

Santa María del Mar Beach:

This is the most northern beach in the city. It's 400 metres long and spans the length of the city's ancient walls.

Cádiz is almost completely surrounded by the sea, as you can see on the postcard. Along the sea-boulevard there are lots of small beaches. In the hot summer, a dip in the Atlantic Ocean may be really refreshing. As the available space is limited, it is used efficiently: the streets are not wider than absolutely necessary. Because the design of the city is mostly from another century (or millennium), this means the wider cars have it difficult here

It took 116 years to complete the Cadiz Cathedral, so the mix of styles is evident. Construction began in the Baroque style and was completed in the Neoclassic style. There are sculptural works from the old cathedral inside. The towers and the sacristy were built last, in the 19th century. The vaults of the high altar and the choir stalls are noteworthy, although the latter are not from the cathedral. There are some very beautiful Baroque images. The church is topped with a dome of gilded brick, which gives it an impressive look. The brilliant Spanish composer Manuel de Falla is buried in the crypt.

We are starting this new journey in Andalucia, in Huelva to be precise. Huelva traces its origins back to the 7th century BC when Greeks and Phoenicians started the exploitation of the numerous mines of the region: the Tartessian culture. After the Roman and the Muslim occupations Huelva became part of Seville and then of Medina Sidonia. Huelva is famous due to Christopher Columbus that always planned his expeditions to the “New World” in the Monastery of “La Rabida”.

The beaches of Huelva are situated to the South of Spain, bathed by the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the so called Costa de la Luz . There you can find the wonderful beaches of Huelva. More than 100 kms of beaches protected by fossil dunes. An important summer resort since the last century the tourism infrastructe, very respectful with the environment, has very interesting and atractive hotel offers. If you visit Huelva you will be able to enjoy the best beaches amongst which we would like to highlight:

Almonte beaches

Matalascañas beach: 4 Kms of fine goleen sand. This urban beach is fitted with a very good infrastructure and from here you can get to Doñana dunes. The beach has been awarded a blue flag by the European Community for its outstanding conditions.
Playa Castilla: 20 Kms of goleen sand. This isolated beach is surrounded by Doñana Park. It’s surrounded by cliffs but it lacks the appropriate infrastructure.( see Natural Parks)

Isla Cristina beaches:

Isla Canela beach: Urban beach of golden sand surrounded by marshes and dunes.
Redondela beach: small and isolated beach of golden sand surrounded by eucalyptus.
Punta Caimán beach: small and cozy beach of golden sand. The approach road is not in very good conditions and the beach lacks of infrastructure and services.
Del Moral beach: The sea is almost always calm and the beach has a nice golden sand. You’ll meet few people here but it also lacks services and appropriate infrastructure.

Cartaya beaches

Portal beach: 4 Kms of urban beach with golden sand and suitable facilities. Surrounded by a wonderful natural landscape: Laguna de Portil, Enebrales and Odiel marshes
Rompío beach: 1 Km. Semi-urban beach of golden beach lacking good facilities. The beach is surrounded by the wonderful Flecha de Cartaya natural area

Lepe beaches

Playa La Antilla: 4 Kms of urban beach with golden sand and different services.
Nueva Umbría beach: if you love nature this is a virgin and naturist beach. This beach is surrounded by Las Piedras and Flecha Nueva Umbría natural paradises.
Islantilla beach: important resort fitted with a wide range of services. Here you can find everything you need to rest and relax. Excelent facilities.

Moguer beaches

Parador beach: this beach is surrounded by cliffs, pine trees and eucalyptus. The beach is almost virgin and lacks of complete infrastructure.
Mazagón beach: large urban beach equipped with a wide range of services.

Playas de Punta Umbria

Punta Umbría beach: urban beach of golden sand. This beach has a really wonderful atmosphere.
Bota beach: Isolated beach of virgin golden sand located in a forest of pine trees and surrounded by dunes.
Enebrales beach: isolated virgin beach of golden sand that lacks of appropriate infrastructe

Hoy no comienza su camino un nuevo blog, hoy nace un lugar de evasión, donde cada semana, se iran mostrando las maravillas que fruto de la combinación del sol,el mar , la tierra y sus paisajes configuran la realidad de España y hacen de ella un lugar que merece la pena visitar, no te marches sin conocer nuestros rincones ¡¡¡Enganchate a España!!!.Y comenzamos nuestra andadura en Andalucía, más concretamente en Huelva. Huelva tiene su origen en la explotación de minas que los fenicios y los griegos desarrollaron en el siglo VII a.c.: la cultura tartesiana. Después de las epocas romanas y árabes Huelva perteneció primero a Sevilla, seguida por Medina Sidonia. De fama goza por la presencia de Cristobal Colón, que planificaba en el monasterio de "La Rabida" sus viajes al "Nuevo Mundo".

Huelva es tierra de descubridores y si vais a Huelva no os olvidéis de visitar los siguientes lugares:

Las playas de Huelva se encuentran al sur de España, en la llamada "Costa de la Luz" y están bañadas por las aguas claras del océano Atlántico. Allí encontrarás las magníficas playas de Huelva. Más de 100km de playas resguardadas por dunas fósiles. Lugar de veraneo ya en el siglo pasado, la infraestructura turística, muy respetuosa del medio ambiente, cuenta con una atractiva e interesante oferta hotelera. Si vais a Huelva podréis disfrutar de las mejores playas entre las que destacamos:

Playas de Almonte

Playa de Matalascañas: 4 Km de arena dorada, servicios, playa urbana, desde ella se llega a las Dunas de Doñana. Tienen bandera azul.
Playa Castilla: 20 Km de arena dorada, aislada, rodeada del Parque de Doñana, tiene acantilados, no tiene servicios. (ver Parques Naturales)

Playas de Isla Cristina: rodeadas de marismas.

Playa de Isla Canela: arena dorada, marismas y cañas, arenales, dunas, urbana.
Playa de la Redondela: pequeña playa rodeada de eucaliptos aislada, arena dorada.
Playa de Punta Caimán: pequeña, sin servicios, difícil acceso, arena dorada, virgen.
Playa del Moral: arena dorada, mar tranquilo, casi virgen, sin servicios.

Playas de Cartaya

Playa del Portil: 4 Kms de playa urbana, arena dorada, servicios, rodeada de parajes naturales: el de Laguna de Portil, el de Enebrales y de las Marismas de Odiel.(ver

Playas de Lepe

Playa Islantilla: gran complejo turístico, muchos servicios, arena dorada, mucho ambiente, excelente infraestructura.

Playas de Moguer

Playa del Parador: pocos servicios, rodeada de acantilados, pinares y eucaliptos, casi virgen.
Playa de Mazagón: muy grande, urbana, servicios.

Playas de Punta Umbria: distintivo de bandera azul.

Playa Punta Umbría: urbana, arena dorada, servicios, mucho ambiente.
Playa de la Bota: arena dorada, aislada y virgen, situada en un bosque de pinos con dunas.
Playa de los Enebrales: virgen, arena dorada, sin servicios, aislada.
